Hyster-Yale Group is forming an Oregon based robotics development team. This team is tasked with developing the next generation of robotic forklifts. Are you up to the challenge? Does the thought of developing fully autonomous forklift and tow tractor products align with your career bucket list?
Our teams work on great projects within our "hands-on" engineering development centers in the Portland area. This will be a Portland based global robotics development team contributing to the development of robotic options for all lift truck models.
Hyster-Yale Group is looking for energetic and innovative robotic engineer for our emerging technology Product Development team in Portland, Oregon. This engineering position plays an important role in implementing robotic technology into current products by creating, modifying, and implementing solutions across multiple platforms. As a global team-member you will interact with all aspects of the organization; including manufacturing, procurement, and test, to ensure that we deliver quality robots. Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and integrate robotic controls software for vehicle controls and communication within an embedded development environment
- Simulate, verify, and test developed software to ensure it meets technology requirements
- Develop system and component level requirements from truck level requirements
- Work with global software engineering team to develop efficient, cost effective electrical, electronic, and software architectures
- Develop, design, release, and support activities to ensure that the engineering outputs meet the quality, reliability, performance, and cost expectations of the customer
- Provide support to Manufacturing, Sourcing, Marketing, and Aftermarket groups in the area of vehicle control systems
- Collaborate with technology system suppliers
Qualifications:
- BS Electrical Engineering/ Computer Engineering / Computer Science with embedded software skills
- Development experience in C/C++ programming language required
- Knowledge of robotic sensors and SLAM applications
- Knowledge of electrical, embedded control systems and networked communications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CAN bus systems (SAE-J1939 or CANOpen) preferred
- Knowledge of WIFI and/or cellular radio technology
- Willingness to develop within Matlab/Simulink model based environment
- Interest in industrial equipment (materials handling, automotive, agricultural, construction, or similar)

- Occasional travel may be required (less than 10% total time)
