Lead Engineer - Port Hueneme/Ventura County
Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities
The Lead Engineer will participate in the installation, test, repair, and support MK41 VLS ISEA team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the installation support of equipment including performing equipment modifications and upgrades, performing equipment/system repair, performing the assembly, integration, and test of equipment/systems, and perform daily coordination and communication with a designated team and other program representatives. Candidates must be must also be able to travel on an as-required basis to provide support onboard ships, or other land-based facilities as necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Basic knowledge and understanding of analog and digital circuitries, able to trace electronic signals using schematics, and block diagrams.
- Delivering at a high level with minimum supervision and maintain continuous communications with peers and senior management.
- Ability to negotiate through conflicting demands for resources and manage time to drive overall organizational success.
- Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a shipyard industrial environment.
- Able to traverse ladders, and stairwells onboard ships and in dry docks.
- Able to lift no less than 50 lbs. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft, or over the sides of vessels.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% with TDY of 4-5 weeks at a time. Per diem is based on location when on travel, with all travel and lodging expenses covered by the company.
Education and Experience
- U.S. bachelors degree from an accredited university/college
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience in shipboard Combat System maintenance and operations.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in ship Combat Systems documentation development including development work in a lead role.
- Minimum of one (1) year of cumulative shipboard experience.
Security Clearance
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have an active security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance as specified in the minimum qualifications. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD government-granted security clearance. Individuals will be subject to a background investigation including but not limited to, criminal history, employment, and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
