As a Software Safety Engineering expert for our satellite programs, you will both support your assigned program and provide mentorship and guidance to coordinate software safety activities of more junior engineers for the success of the programs.

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $134,000 - $256,900. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

As a Software Safety Engineering expert for our satellite programs, you will both support your assigned program and provide mentorship and guidance to coordinate software safety activities of more junior engineers for the success of the programs.
- You will ensure that safety is designed in and/or analyzed for the software on the products - and that controls are incorporated and remain effective -assuring compliance to requirements
- Support the system safety engineers to ensure that residual risks are identified,
- Verify that assigned deliverables meet contractual requirements
- You will prepare presentations and participate
Program Management Reviews, Technical
Interchange Meetings, and various working
groups
- You’ll review and approve test procedures for
Basic Qualifications:
- 20 years of System Safety Engineering Experience
- Experience as a Tech Fellow in System Safety Engineering for a defense contractor
- 15 years of Software Safety Engineering Experience
- Expertise in the application of MIL-STD-882E Software Safety
- Experience with DO-178
- Demonstrated ability to teach others software safety techniques
- Expertise in using the application of principles in the JSSSH guidebook
- Recognized industry expert in software safety for aerospace programs.
