The Image Sensor Design Center (ISDC) in Sony Electronics currently has an opening for an experience Senior Software Engineer in their San Jose, CA location. The scope of this position is the development of software and firmware for the control of image sensors in concept and reference designs. The successful candidate will be able to implement software and firmware based on well-defined requirements and written specifications, delivering functional modules as part of a larger system.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $127,000.00 to 168,000.00. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus and a sign-on payment, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Bring up image sensors on Linux based platforms
  • Develop applications/drivers on embedded platform
  • Attend meetings to collaborate with different teams to support project
  • Document guides to transfer knowledge with team members
  • Communicate with customers and present demo as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering or equivalent role
  • 4+ years of experience in C/C++ development
  • Development experience on Linux based platform
  • Open to learning new technology
  • Communicate and work well in a team environment
  • Fluent in English and has good speaking and writing skills
  • Travel internationally and domestically as needed (rare)
  • Must reside in the Bay Area
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of Linux system, device trees, kernel drivers, and V4L2
  • Understanding of image sensors and image processing
  • Understanding of MIPI, I2C, SPI, GPIO, UART, Ethernet
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Raspberry PI or Jetson
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with neural network implementation
  • Experience with debugging tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscope
