Security Systems Technician
Job Description
Senior technician responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation and inspection of Access Control Doors and Video Cameras to enhance campus safety and security. Maintain and service a variety of edge-based, networked locks and cameras. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
55% - Essential - Access Control Technician: Installs, configures, troubleshoots, repairs and resolves issues associated with access control doors. Devices include WiFi and PoE readers and controllers and electrified door hardware. Maintains firmware for readers and controllers to ensure reliability and functionality.
15% - Essential - Schedules, coordinates and performs routine preventative maintenance on over 700 WiFi locks and 500 monitor only doors. Annually replaces batteries on IN120 locks and tests and repairs door contacts and alarms. Compiles technical documentation and procedures for all work performed.
15% - Essential - Camera Technician: Troubleshoots, repairs and resolves issues associated with cameras. Performs diagnostics on cameras to determine the source of the issue. Works with the NOC to ensure proper network configuration. Performs routine preventative maintenance to optimize performance and reliability.
10% - Essential - Utilizes a variety of software tools to include Genetec Security Desk, Genetec Config Tool, Assa Abloy LCT and HID Reader Manager to maintain readers and locks. Utilizes a variety of hardware tools to aid in identifying, troubleshooting and resolving network switch and cabling issues..
5% - Essential - Customer Service: Compiles support data to track issues, trends and patterns that can be used to enhance customer experience. Documents work performed and provides customers with timely status reports to keep apprised of efforts to resolve issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area.

Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
