- Works to improve existing laboratory tests and processes by identifying and applying new laboratory instrumentation, automation and test fixtures.
- Responds to user requests to repair and/or modify existing laboratory instrumentation, automated systems and test fixtures.
- As applicable, records observed or calculated data on appropriate UL forms as the record oflaboratory support activities. May plan laboratory support activities, and evaluate results, as directed.
- Builds, installs, tests and validates instrumentation, automated systems and test fixtures for laboratory tests and processes to ensure they meet technical and safety requirements.
- Updates and maintains automation hardware and/or software as needed.
- Prepares technical documentation such as manual instructions for hardware and software, calibration procedures, test method validations, etc.
- Advises and trains others on the use of laboratory instrumentation, automated systems and test fixtures.
- Assists in developing annual budgetary goals, capital expenditure budget for laboratory equipment, and tactical plans for the assigned laboratory section.
- Defines the engineering units, ranges, and/or acceptance criteria of instruments to be externally calibrated based on manufacturer’s equipment specifications, standard requirements and/or accreditations. Checks, verifies and accepts calibration certificates from external calibration service provider(s).
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- 2 years of formal education with associate degree or certification as a technician through an accredited organization.
- Prior calibration experience preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to proactively adapt actions through preparation and contingency plans.
- Follows instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- You have the ability to compose routine reports and business correspondence.
- You have the abilityto contrinute suggestions to a preventive maintenance program.
- You have a general understanding of electronic components and working components.
- Ability to communicate with outside calibration company (Atlas) w/ contracts and general calibration responsibilities.
- This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 50lbs (hoist provided when weight exceeds 50lbs) and can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment.

Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.
All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 5% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.
We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
