Job Description
Maxar is currently seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our team in Westminster, CO. or San Jose, CA. In this role, you will use your engineering skills to help build spacecraft simulators.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):
- Design and implement models of spacecraft components and/or subsystems for all-software spacecraft simulators
- Investigate current satellite and software industry best practices; Consider suitability of various technologies for integration into simulation software and CI/CD pipeline
- Collaborate with team members to find solutions to design and evaluate technical trade-offs
- Communicate cross-functionally with software and systems engineers to ensure a coherent system design
- Write and perform unit, integration, and system-level tests on software applications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree. A Master’s degree may be considered as 2 years of professional experience.
- 5 years of professional related experience
- Proficiency with Linux
- Proficiency with software compilers and other software development tools
Preferred Qualifications (These skills would be amazing):
- 1+ years of experience with core Flight System (cFS)
- Professional scientific programming, preferable in simulation of spacecraft or other complex system
Professional experience in the following:
- Developing software in C++ or Python
- Debugging and troubleshooting complex systems
- Spacecraft operations, design or testing
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Software-development life-cycle
- Agile methodologies
- Mathematical skills, particularly numerical analysis methods and linear algebra
- Simulink experience
- Understanding of Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) concepts
- Experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC).
- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Passion to work on space applications

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$112,000.00 - $187,000.00 annually.
