The Process Engineering Fellow is responsible for the short- and long-term engineering projects and programs by providing for the technical and scientific direction for the alignment, design and completion of business objectives and key initiatives. This position is responsible for the formulation and recommendation of engineering policies and procedures for diverse engineering activities. The position will maximise internal and external expertise and apply sound methodology to drive innovation solutions in engineering support, project delivery and/or technical fields.
The Process Engineering Fellow will facilitate strong multi-functional alignment between R&D, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to achieve complex business objectives. This position will also require a solid technical understanding of process engineering concepts. Will deliver technical solutions by coordinating talent and implementing standard methodologies in problem solving, engineering & technology by engaging, inspiring, empowering and mentoring the team. The candidate must have a consistent track record of working with highly trained engineering professionals and assist in developing future technical leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads multi-functional initiatives
- Performs project and/or program analysis and supervises the development of departmental assignments
- Decides or recommends on the feasibility and/or implementation of new process technologies
- Maintains a high level of technical proficiency and business development insight.
- Defines technical or scientific direction and feasibility for new or convergent technologies. Provides major contributions to the field, marketable technologies, and the business
- Develops technical standards and guidelines for new technical and/or scientific methods and/or technologies.
- Anticipates tactical situations and acts to build opportunities and/or avoid problems
- Provides direction to project teams and work groups to achieve outcomes. Directs execution of new technologies. Overall project leadership in implementing new technologies. Provides recommendations for improving engineering activity to achieve higher levels of efficiency
- Industry leading expertise. Has established internal and/or external reputation in the area of technical expertise
- Provides input at department level while leading significant teams or providing technical leadership to teams. Mentoring of engineers and scientists
- Applies innovative new scientific methods or technology to drive business results on a global level
- Leads Communities of Practice and influences internal and external organizations
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or equivalent is required.
Required:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Process Development & Engineering
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of delivering results with high value capital
- Experience in technical transfer
- History of successful program and project management experience
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Preferred:
- Fifteen (15) years of industrial experience with an advanced degree (MS, PhD, MBA) in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience in injection molding
- Familiarity with polymer science is highly desirable
- Ability to lead technical teams
- Ability to influence at global leadership level
Other:
- This position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.
- This position is 100% on-site
