Job Description
Basic Purpose:
Performs assignments requiring application of standard engineering techniques and procedures to carry out related tasks which lead to accountability for the design, development, and evaluation of company products.
Nature & Scope:
This is an engineering position requiring 4-8 years’ related work experience. The incumbent reports to the Engineering Group Leader for the group responsible for mobile hydraulic, electrical and control systems. They may (and usually do) receive specific assignments from Project Engineers or Sr. Project Engineers.
Using prescribed methods, the incumbent performs specific and limited portions of the broader assignment of a more experienced Engineer. In doing this, the incumbent prepares layouts and finished drawings, establishes materials, general specifications and manufacturing techniques to comply with specified standards, conferring with Draftsmen assigned to complete detail drawings and with shop personnel when problems within the incumbent’s area of responsibility arise. The incumbent reviews and approves and prepares finished shop drawings.
Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Supervisor confers frequently to assure correct methods are utilized.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop knowledge of mobile electrical and hydraulic systems through practical implementation of components on machinery and use of ANSI symbols to define circuit function.
- Design, prototype and test electrical circuits
- Team with higher level Technicians, Designers and other Engineers to complete broader prototyping tasks, but will also bear sole responsibility for design and technical projects.
- Designs, develops and evaluates functional prototypes to conform to customer orders or assignments by superiors. These may vary between electrical circuits, wiring, wire harnesses, systems integration, and vehicle control systems.
- Assures that projects assigned meet functional, esthetic, reliability, productivity and economic requirements.
- Provides functional supervision to technicians, shop personnel, and Draftsmen assigned to the implementation of projects.
- Conducts research, analysis and evaluation of current project defects, development and recommending revision when necessary to maintain the company’s competitive position in its chosen markets.
