Job Description
This position encompasses civil engineering work with responsibility for water, wastewater and reclaimed water utility projects, including the planning, investigation, location, design and construction oversight of municipal engineering and public works projects. Work involves the application of professional engineering skills and knowledge to perform moderately difficult projects including the planning, design, permitting and construction phase professional services for a range of projects and evaluating the cost effectiveness, safety and practicality of construction methods; Work requires the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative; providing technical support work in planning, design, construction and inspection activities; preparing plans, specifications and technical reports; and evaluating project cost effectiveness and feasibility of alternative construction methods.
Salary: $59,405 - $95,763

To QualifyMinimum Qualifications. Applicants Must:
- Possess a valid Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field -or- possess a valid Engineer Intern Certificate from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
- Have some knowledge of modern engineering methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure, including cost analysis.
- Be skilled in the use of a personal computer and computer software including: 1) Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports, analyses and studies, and 2) the latest Civil 3D application.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Are able to gather, organize, interpret and compile relevant engineering information and data to provide a basis for sound decision making.
- Are able to perform advanced mathematical calculations such as trigonometry and calculus.
- Are skilled in technical writing and engineering cost analysis.
- Have considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of civil engineering construction and design.
